When I think solely about the problem I face each day beating the heck out of my laptop while developing 3D games, I cannot fault this cooler on anything. Yes, it's not portable because it requires AC power. Yes, it's noisy. Yes, it's bigger and heavier than others. But that's all necessary to do the job of keeping a high-powered laptop nice and cool under heavy load. You can't get the power required from a USB port, and you can't move that much air without making some noise—at least not at this price point. So, if you're not doing extreme things with an extreme laptop, then this cooler may not be for you!If you're still reading, then it does have a few extra features to consider. One that I like is that the speed control and display are right under your nose as you work. As your workload and laptop temperature fluctuate, you can easily adjust the fan—it's always just right there, so easy to do! Another feature that I love is the filter. Nothing ruins laptop cooling like clogged fans! The fact that your laptop makes a tight seal to this unit means it now receives only clean, filtered air, which will keep it nice and clean—and cool! The adjustable legs are great! The extra USB ports are fantastic. The mouse pad that I got with this model (which was a surprise to me!) is really good—it fits right across my desk, under the laptop and mouse, giving it all a clean look!For me, there are only a couple of negatives. The biggest one is those swing arms at the bottom to hold the laptop in place. If I use them, they do dig into my wrists. As someone who does a lot of typing, this is not good. Luckily, the laptop seems to stay in place perfectly for me without using them—so I'm good. Secondly—and this is nit-picking, but I predict the foam will wear out under the weight of my wrists over time—and I don't see any replacement foam available. But those are just minor gripes and I won't take any points off for them.So in summary, if you're working with demanding software, this cooler is an essential investment that will keep your laptop cool and running fast, and likely extend its life! (Let me just quickly add—for those who don't know, when a laptop, or any device for that matter, gets warm, it has to slow itself down to prevent damage (thermal throttling). So you lose performance when your laptop gets warm. Keeping it cool keeps it at full speed!) If you're not using demanding software, then this may be overkill. But I will say, even if you're not working your laptop hard, using this cooler on low speed will give you the benefit of the filtered air, which is still a BIG plus and it doesn't make much noise on low.10/10, would recommend!(This review is for the white version that doesn't have the neon, but comes with a mouse pad, and is quite a bit cheaper. Plus, I got it with a sweet little $30 coupon! ?)
